Just recently Hillary Clinton said “i am
not a liberal i am a progressive. Well she is right. The original
liberal is nothing like the new so called “Liberal”. A recent editorial
by Rich Lowry reviewing the book “Camelot and the Cultural Revolution,” written by Jim Piereson states”The real John F. Kennedy wasn’t the paladin of liberal purity of myth.
He was friends with Joseph McCarthy. In his 1952 campaign for Senate
and his 1960 presidential campaign, he got to the right of his
Republican opponents on key issues. “Kennedy did not want a
nyone to tag
him as a liberal, which he regarded as the kiss of death in electoral
politics,” Piereson writes. As president, he was vigorously
anti-communist, a tax-cutter and a cautious supporter of civil rights.
It is a twisted evolution, which is why you keep hearing Hillary
Clinton say she was a Goldwater girl. Liberalism as it was known back
then was abandoned. Politicians run from the word liberal not only
because of the stigma of the word, but because they really are
progressives. Progressivism historically advocates the advancement of workers’ rights and social justice. The progressives were early proponents of anti-trust laws and the regulation of large corporations and monopolies, as well as government-funded environmentalism and the creation of National Parks and Wildlife Refuges. So make no mistake if Hillary becomes POTUS
be prepared for massive tax hikes, major regulation and expanded government. Wow Camelot seems so far away these days.
